Komuroyama (小室山, Mt. Komuro) is a 321 m volcanic cone on the coast of Ito, Shizuoka. On its summit sits the Ridge Walk "MISORA", a wooden boardwalk looping round the top, and Café 321, a café with ocean-view seating. This guide covers fares, hours, time needed, the café, dogs, strollers, access, parking and payment, using only the operator, the City of Ito, the Ito Tourist Association and the park's managing foundation, all dated. Lift fares (checked 2026-09-23)

The only prices on the official table are chairlift tickets; no separate fee for the Ridge Walk is listed. In practice the lift fare is your entry ticket to the summit.

• Children pay just 100 yen even for a round trip, much less than Mt. Omuro (500 yen).
• There is no disability discount. The operator's FAQ states that fares are uniform and no disability-certificate discount is offered (as of 2026-09-23).
• In the 2021 opening announcement the lift was 600 yen round trip for adults and 300 yen for children; today it is 1,000 and 100 yen.
• The Ito Tourist Association lists the same fares as the operator.
• Payment at the lift window is not spelled out on the official pages. The operator's FAQ says credit cards and e-money are accepted at Kitchen 218, the base restaurant. Carry some yen cash for the lift in case.

Combination tickets and the October 1, 2026 price change

• Tokai Bus shows the current Komuroyama Pack at "adult 1,870 yen (regular 2,020 yen)" and "child 580 yen (regular 620 yen)", so it is cheaper than buying bus and lift separately. It is not sold during Golden Week (late April to early May).
• The pack is sold at the Tokai Bus Ito Station information office (9:00–18:00 daily; until 17:00 over New Year) and through the KKday booking site.
• The coupon in the pack, and the 2-Day Pass, both give 50 yen off a drink at Café 321 or a soft-serve ice cream at the base shop.
• If you also plan to visit Mt. Omuro or the Izu Shaboten Zoo area, the 2-Day Pass may work out better.

Opening hours and weather closures

• The lift stops in strong wind and bad weather. Check the "today's operating status" box at the top of the operator's page before you set out. On the day this guide was written, Wednesday, September 23, 2026, it read "suspended due to severe weather". The next day's status is posted when operations start that morning.
• Beyond regular hours, the operator lists New Year's Day opening and a summer extension (in 2026, one extra hour from August 8 to 16).
• Café 321 generally does not take reservations. Café customers get access to a 10.8 m glass-railed viewing bridge used as a photo spot.

How long to allow

• Lift: about 5 minutes each way
• Walking around the summit: about 30–60 minutes (operator FAQ)
• Lift, summit, café and a meal at Kitchen 218: about 1–3 hours (operator FAQ)

The Ito Tourist Association gives 60 minutes for Komuroyama Park. For the summit only, plan on about an hour; if you want to sit in the café, allow 1.5–2 hours.

Dogs, strollers and wheelchairs

• Pets of any size must ride in a carrier that fully hides the pet's face (rule revised December 22, 2025). The carrier must fit the seat, within 30 × 50 cm. Several pets can ride if they fit in carriers. Rental carriers are available for 300 yen, in limited numbers.
• With a pet, Café 321 seating is outdoor terrace only, and a drink order is required. Kitchen 218 has a space where you can eat with your pet. Some areas restrict pets for safety.
• Strollers can be used, but there are some steps. Wheelchairs can use only some areas (operator FAQ).
• Kitchen 218 has a baby-care room and a kids' space.

Getting there and parking

Bus: From Ito Station, take a Tokai Bus bound for "Komuroyama Ridge Walk MISORA", or for "Shaboten Koen via Komuroyama Ridge Walk MISORA", and get off at the "Komuroyama Ridge Walk MISORA" stop, right by the lift.

• Journey time is given as "about 20 minutes" on the operator page, "24 minutes" on the Komuroyama Pack and Tokai Bus sightseeing pages, and "23 minutes" by the Tourist Association. Allow 20–25 minutes.
• Bus bays at Ito Station: the pack page says 2, 3 and 5; the sightseeing page says 2, 3 and 6. Bays 2 and 3 appear in both; confirm at the station.
• Suica, PASMO and other nationwide IC cards work on Tokai Bus local buses (not on highway buses or scheduled sightseeing tours). Tap on when you board and again when you get off. If your balance runs short, you can top up on board with 1,000-yen notes only.
• JR passes do not cover Tokai Bus: it is a private bus company, so a JR Pass or JR East Pass only gets you as far as Ito Station.
• Taxi: about 20 minutes from Ito Station (operator).
• Train and walk: from Kawana Station (Izukyu Line), the operator says about 40 minutes on foot, the park's managing foundation says about 25 minutes (about 2 km), and the Tourist Association and the city say 20 minutes. Allow 40 minutes to be safe.

Car and parking: the operator directs drivers to the Komuroyama Park main car park (Dai-chushajo), which is free. You can drive up as far as car park no. 3 at the foot of the hill, but lots 1–3 fill up, so the main lot is recommended.

• Totals differ by source: 250 spaces (Tourist Association), about 280 (City of Ito). Signs on site take precedence.
• Parking is charged in azalea season. During the azalea viewing period and on Fridays, weekends and holidays over Golden Week, the main car park and the temporary lot at the sports ground become paid parking, and nearby roads get congested, so public transport is requested.
• Large vehicles cannot use the park car parks.

Komuroyama vs Mt. Omuro

Ito has two peaks you reach by chairlift. Here they are side by side, from the official sources.

• Different views: Komuroyama is a low hill close to the sea; from its boardwalk and café the view opens towards Sagami Bay and Izu Oshima island. Mt. Omuro is higher and known for its crater-rim walk. Hiking up Mt. Omuro is forbidden, so its lift is the only way up.
• Both in one day: both are reached by bus from Ito Station, and buses bound for "Shaboten Koen via Komuroyama Ridge Walk MISORA" pass Komuroyama on the way to the Shaboten Koen stop, where the Mt. Omuro lift is.
• Mt. Omuro's lift is scheduled to close for inspection from December 7 to 18, 2026 (official notice).
• Weather closures are decided separately. On September 23, 2026, Komuroyama showed "suspended due to severe weather" while Mt. Omuro's home page showed "operating normally".

Seasons (typical timing, not event dates)

• Azaleas: the park's azalea garden (35,000 m²) has 100,000 plants of 40 varieties, usually best from mid to late April, depending on the weather.
• Camellias: the camellia garden (15,000 m²) has 4,000 plants of 1,000 varieties; the camellia viewing event is usually held in February–March.
• The operator names spring azaleas, summer blue sky and sea, clear autumn air and winter views of Mt. Fuji as the seasonal highlights.

What else is on the summit and at the base

• Café 321: every seat faces the sea and sky. The Tourist Association's sample menu: 321 Blend coffee 500 yen, MISORA yogurt frappé 700 yen, "strata" café latte 650 yen, Izu craft beers 800 yen each (tax included).
• Komuro Shrine: a shrine on the summit. The operator says it began when the lord of Odawara re-established the sacred ground after the great earthquake of 1703.
• Kitchen 218: the base restaurant, usable without riding the lift; it takes seat reservations only. Seafood bowls, curry and other light meals.
• At the base of the park: a dinosaur plaza, lawn and play equipment (park foundation).
• Drone photography needs permission in principle.
